watchanish:

This is the rarest current production wristwatch in the world, the Patek Philippe Skymoon Tourbillon (ref 5002J). The spec list is frankly insane and of course at this price point (RRP is circa $1.3 million upwards, but there is a significant premium being charged by dealers to skip the waiting list and obtain one) the finishing is impeccable. Being double sided, the case measures 43mm across and is 16.5mm thick, so not really in the same ‘slim complication’ category as the 3939, but to fit so many functions into a case even this size is a massive feat in itself.
Here is the breakdown:
Geneva Seal engraved on Movement. Hidden Tourbillon (a Patek favourite!). Poire hands. Month at 3 o’clock, moonphase at 6 o’clock, leap year cycle at 12 o’clock. Retrograde center date hand.
On the (relative) back celestial midnight blue sky dial, the white skeletonized hands indicate the sidereal hour as it occurs every 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4.1 seconds. The eliptical sky vault displays the present orientation of the visible celestial sky. The lunar cycle of 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes and 2.82 seconds is also indicated on the rear dial.
This watch would be the crown-jewel in any seriously serious watch collection, and though there are other challengers (Vacheron Constantin Tour de I’lle & Franck Muller Aeternitas Mega 4 both have more complications) the Patek brand name carries it above even those.

Fuck collecting, I’d actually buy this to wear it. Always wanted a skywatch, and of course you can’t find another brand with the sort of fit and finish of Patek … View Larger
